I did not like the outdated look of the Flower Mound Foundation website and volunteered to give it a refresh. The only input for the redesign was to add a Board Member Portal.
In addition to creating the Portal, I made a lot of visual improvements. I updated the colors, the page layout and page organization. I created a scrolling slider of colorful images on the About page – some are related composite images that I spliced together. I also added integration with their Facebook page, videos and images.
Some of the other improvements I made include adding contact information and updating the footer. I also removed the bulky commerce system (that I originally installed) and replaced it with a simple set of PayPal buttons. I did this because there is currently only a single item for sale. I created a page called Related Info of some of the projects and affiliations of the Mound Foundation. Finally, I totally reformatted the blog page, added a Donate button to top of the pages and setup SEO (search engine optimization) so people searching can more easily find the Flower Mound Foundation site .
Now, the board wants to improve the Wildlife pages with better images and descriptions as well as add a detailed page of the plants / vegetation found on the Flower Mound. I will be adding that as well as a page of the Board members with photos and descriptions.
